Glassware is quoted on shape and price, and it fails on decoration. Ask these in this order and the quote answers itself.

How will the glass be washed?

Commercial dishwasher three times a day, or a home sink twenty times a year?

This one answer decides the decoration method and it should be asked first.

Fired ceramic ink or organic ink?

Fired frit fuses into the glass at over 1100°F and cannot wash off.

Organic ink cures at low temperature, hits brighter colour, and wears in a bar.

Where does the mark sit?

At least 20mm below the rim, always, and off the interior surface entirely.

On a heavy-based glass, keep it in the upper two thirds or the base refracts it.

Tempered or annealed?

Tempered for service: better thermal shock and impact resistance, and shallow etch only.

Annealed for retail and gifting: a finer wall, and deeper relief is possible.
