Pint & Beer Glasses
Pint glasses are bought in two completely different situations and the right answer is different in each. A taproom ordering four hundred for service is buying a consumable that will go through a caustic commercial wash several times a day for two years. A brewery selling merchandise is buying something that will be hand-washed at home twenty times a year.
For service, fired ceramic ink is almost always correct. The decorated glass runs through a lehr at over eleven hundred degrees and the frit fuses into the surface, so it is glass on glass and it cannot abrade off. For retail, an organic ink print costs less, hits brighter colours and will comfortably survive a domestic dishwasher. Both are legitimate; buying the second for the first job is the single most common mistake in this category.
The rest is shape and stock. Nonic, conical, tulip and can-shape all print differently because the wrap changes with the taper, and a design laid out flat lands distorted on a steep cone unless it is compensated. We proof on the actual glass shape, and we keep every decoration at least 20mm below the rim.
